More About Hayley Lewis...

Living in Brisbane and a mother of two sons Jacob and Kai, Hayley Lewis is remembered as the 15-year-old ‘girl next door’ who swept to fame in 1990 by winning five gold medals at the Auckland Commonwealth Games. This amazing feat placed Hayley in the hearts and minds of all Australians.

12 months later, Hayley went on to great fame by winning the 200m freestyle World Championship in front of an ecstatic Perth crowd.

In 1998, after the birth of her first child Jacob, Hayley joined forced with Jenny Craig Weight Loss Centres as a key spokesperson, helping her get back in shape and encouraging other young mothers to do the same.

Back in top shape, Hayley surprised herself by powering into her third Olympic team with emphatic victory in the 800m freestyle at the Olympic trials in 2000. She competed in the World Swimming Championships in Japan in 2001 in three events – 1500m in the pool and 5km and 10km open water, winning bronze medal in the 5km.

Hayley decided to retire once knowing that open water would not be included in the 2004 Olympics, but she went out in style and remains Australia 5km and 10km open water champion.

Out of the water, Hayley has embarked on several business ventures – including her own swim school in Brisbane (now closed after nine years of trading), owns and runs a beautiful homewares store Coming Up Roses, has a range of fitness equipment, was part of the XVII Commonwealth Games television commentary and is highly sought after for speaking engagements and personal appearances.

On 1 April 2011 she released her first book Dream Believe Create: A Woman’s Guide to Small Business, published by Harper Collins.

My main satisfaction for being host of The Biggest Loser is:
Interacting with the contestants and the relationships that I form with them. Filming for many months gives me the opportunity to spend many hours with them so in a way we all become like family. Seeing them transform is amazing and I love seeing and experiencing the whole process.
My proudest moment on The Biggest Loser so far has been:
The last challenge the contestants did in Tasmania last year. Seeing them struggling with the cold on the top of Mount Wellington after nearly a week sailing from Sydney to Hobart and then having to do a triathlon was very inspirational and a filming day that I will never forget.

From a personal perspective, getting through my very first filming day was the proudest I have been in myself because I've never felt so nervous and scared in my life.
What I'm looking forward to most about this series is:
Meeting 16 individuals with 16 separate stories and seeing how the interact with each other without having a friend/family with them. The past two seasons that I have hosted have been 'Couples' and 'Families' so being a part of a 'Singles' season will be very different.
My favourite healthy snack is:
Raspberries or bananas.
The motto I live by is:
Don't let anyone tell you that you can't achieve your dreams, just do it!
The piece of advice I'd give people wanting to start their own weight loss journeys is:
Keep a journal of your daily food intake for a week. Weight loss (and maintenance) is purely 'energy in, energy out.'
